The ancient fortified settlement of Karališkių piliakalnis: unraveling the

Karališkių piliakalnis, also known as Liuko piliakalnis, is an archaeological site and burial ground situated in Molėtų region, Karališkės village, Alantos seniūnija. The site boasts areas rising approximately 10-12 meters high on its eastern, northern, and western slopes. On the eastern side, the remnants of a nearly extinct fireplace altar remain, while the northern region once housed a timber fortress. About 250 meters west of the archaeological site, a 6th-7th century AD settlement was uncovered. Carbon dating indicates that the archaeological site harks back to the Iron Age (4th-3rd century BC) and extends into the early Middle Ages (6th-7th century).
