The eroded hill fort from the Iron Age

Bikūnų piliakalnis is a unique archaeological site dated to the Iron Age, hidden in Utena forest. Its oval shape, surrounded by a ditch, measuring 50x22m, stands 10-12m tall. The center of the hill is depressed by three walls, likely caused by erosion. Excavations have found ceramics within the mounds, including broken and ordinary pottery. The area was excavated by the Lithuanian National Museum. The 0.3 hectare excavated area, found in the hill fort, contains a living quarter from ancient times. The hill fort is protected by the state and is located 1.2 km from a sign.
