The Barefoot Carmelites' Monastery of Palm Trees, locally known as Monestir dels Pares Carmelites del Desert de les Palmes, is a hidden oasis situated in the municipality of Benicàssim, Spain. Founded in 1694, this monastery offers a unique retreat for solitude and contemplation within a community of Barefoot Carmelites. Though not strictly a desert, it is a place where the monks live a structured life based on the community, with periods of solitary retreat for contemplation. The monastery was built on the Masia de Gavarrell and is easily accessible from La N340 and Benicàssim, drawing tourists for its beauty and impressive views of the Plana de Castelló. Despite the Napoleonic invasion, the Monastery has maintained most of its assets.
