The centuries-old (1500) architectural extravaganza, La Asunción, tucked away in the quaint village of Benafarces, Spain, leaves visitors in awe, particularly of its colossal tainted stained-glass window. The damaged section, a remnant of the 1990s, was caused by relentless rainfall that weakened certain church foundations. In order to conceal the imperfections, an elaborate stained-glass window was inserted to mask the afflicted area. The church's clash of Renaissance and Gothic styles culminates in a main altar, adorned with an 18th-century baroque image of a Virgin and her child. A charming juxtaposition of beauty and destruction, wouldn't you say?
