For centuries, the San Pedro de Latarce Castle, once located on the River Sequillo in San Pedro de Latarce, has undergone a tumultuous history. Initially established as a defensive stronghold by King Alfonso IX of León in the 12th century, the castle later passed through the hands of the Knights Templar and the Bazan family. In the 18th century, it underwent refurbishment, featuring a masonry structure and conical towers, including a grand tower-gate.

However, its reign as a royal residence was fleeting, as it fell into disrepair, with internal structures eventually dismantled, leaving only the perimeter walls standing.
