The 14th-century Ruins of Abrillac Monastery: A Hidden Gem in Dordogne Forest

The ruins of Abrillac monastery, hidden in the heart of Dordogne forest, offer a charming glimpse into the past. Founded at the beginning of the 14th century, this monastery, which was served by Augustins, was protected as Monuments historiques on December 5, 1984. The ruins and the soil of the priory of the old Augustinian convent in the forest of Abrillac were then classified. The priory was a rectangular building, only a few sections of the walls remain. The northern wall presents the remains of a monumental chimney and an archer. The decorated sculpture has simplified, and the leaves have disappeared from the windows.
