Nestled in the valley of the Lède in Biron, Dordogne, France lies the captivating Château de Biron. Constructed in the 12th century, this architectural masterpiece has served as the residency for various families, such as the Gontaut-Biron family, for almost eight centuries. In 1211, the Catholic Cathars seized the château, only to be overtaken by Simon de Montfort in 1212. The Plantagenets also held it at times during the 14th and 15th centuries. The current château is a blend of architectural styles from different centuries, featuring a 12th-century keep, 16th-century living quarters, a chapel, and vaulted kitchens.
In 1978, the commune of Biron decided to restore the Château de Biron, transforming it into a tourist attraction. It has been recognized as a monument historique by the French Ministry of Culture since 1928. The Château de Biron is known to have been used as a filming location for 1 production – Revenge of the Musketeers, filmed in 1994.
