Sant Pere Sasserra

Sant Pere Sasserra, located in the municipality of Biosca, Solsonès, is a medieval church built in the Romanesque style. Protected as a cultural asset, the church features a single nave and a rectangular sanctuary, along with an adjacent bell tower. Notable elements of the church's construction include arched entrances, decorated column capitals, and intricate sculptures. Historically administered by the Monastery of Sant Llorenç de Morunys, it was first documented in 1050 and served as a parish until becoming a subordinate of the parish of Vallferrosa in 1910. Sant Pere Sasserra's location on a hilltop provides a picturesque view of the surrounding landscapes, including the Segarra and Urgell plains and the Pre-Pyrenees mountains. Despite being in a state of ruins, the church remains a testament to its rich history and architectural significance.
