Stone Alter: Dolmen de Llanera

Discovered in 1916, the Dolmen de Llanera is a prehistoric burial site located just outside the village of Llanera, Solsonès, Spain.

Now declared a local cultural asset, the monument is one of the largest and best-preserved megalithic structures in Catalonia. It is dated to 2550 BCE, making it 5,000 years old. The tomb was used for burials for two millennia, containing the remains of several individuals and offerings at the entrance.

The Dolmen de Llanera is an example of the 'galeria catalana' typology, with a large rectangular funeral chamber accessible via a wide passage or corridor. The construction materials included large stones. The inhabitants of the site practiced agriculture and pastoralism.

In 2017, the Torà City Council initiated the declaration of the local cultural asset for the Dolmen de Llanera, and it is now part of the protected heritage according to Apactora.
