The crumbling remnants of Sant Ermengol de Madrona

Sant Ermengol de Madrona is a Romanesque church in ruins located in the central part of the municipality of Pinell de Solsonès, between the nucleus of Sant Climenç and the masia of les Cots. Included in the Inventary of Catalonia’s Architectural Heritage, the church features one nave and three round sacristies. The church can be accessed via a winding route from Sant Climenç, with the old one located on a hill to the south. Though much of the building has decayed, its upper half, including the central altar (absis) and part of the lateral altar of the north wall, remain intact. The ruins, made of regular stones well cut and laid in rows, still carry an air of mystery, with the past whispering its secrets through the crumbling stone walls.
