The Palace of the Kings of Navarre at Olite, known as the Old Palace, was constructed during the reign of Sancho VII of Navarre. Although it was designed to accommodate a military aspect, it was not originally built strictly for defense. The great hall and chambers of the Old Palace were built to serve a dual purpose, catering to the needs of both royal courtiers and the military. In the 14th century, during the reign of Charles III, the palace was expanded to serve as a residential palace, accommodating the needs of the royal family. Today, the palace is a Parador de Turismo hotel, offering visitors a glimpse into its complex history.
