Our Lady of the Holy Fountain in Murcia, Spain

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Fuensanta is a Baroque-style Roman Catholic church in the pedanía of Algezares, part of the city of Murcia, in the region of Murcia, Spain. The sanctuary houses the image of Our Lady of Fuensanta, the patron saint of Murcia and its surrounding huerta (fertile plain). The long history of devotion to Our Lady of Fuensanta in Murcia dates back to an apparition on El Hondoyuelo mountain, causing a holy spring (fuente santa) to form. The original hermitage, dating back to the Middle Ages, was replaced by a larger church in the late 17th century to accommodate the growing number of devotees.
