Engineer with initials TAL (Ture Anders Ljungberg) became so dissatisfied with the existing measuring rod, the tumstick, when constructing his own house in 1947, that he developed his own marking meter and named it TAL-meter. It was presented in 1954 in two-meter length.
The manufacture was initially done entirely in the own garage with a single motor, which had to be moved around between the machines. Over time, the machine park was expanded and the TAL-meter was manufactured by T A Ljungberg AB for about 50 years, before Hultafors AB bought the company in 2005.
Up until 2003, approximately 6.7 million had been manufactured - and that was here on a piece of the former priest's garden in Snättringe, where it all began.
