Matineholm: A Jewel of the Swedish Archipelago

Matineholm: A Jewel of the Swedish Archipelago

Located in the picturesque Swedish archipelago, Matineholm is a gem that shines with its vibrant history and stunning architecture.

Matineholm was built in the 1800s with beach front on Snätringe farm's land and was later split off. In 1911, August Strindberg spent his last summer here. Now the house has been renovated, but there is still an August Strindberg on a wall in a closet and remains of boat mooring structures at the shore.

The small hill to the right of the path was once called Love Island and lay as a small island in the attractive park's edge of Matineholm. Now the sound has been filled in and the island has become a land-based mountain, which is still used for both bathing and fishing. Adults must have fishing permits, but children can fish without. From the shore, Allé Road leads away from the lake and to Snätringe farm along Snäck Road.
