An oval-shaped, ancient fortress strangling the River Apaščios

Rinkuškių piliakalnis, known as Velniakalnis, is an ancient fortress located in the Biržų district, near Juodelių and Širvėnos, Lithuania. It is situated approximately 20 meters from the Juodelių bus stop and 500 meters from the right turn near a road intersecting Biržai–Germaniškis. The fortress is located in an isolated massif on the right bank of the Apaščios river. The site's fortress is oval-shaped, with a width of 15 meters and a depth of 10 meters. The fortress walls are about 7-8 meters high and 1 meter thick. There are steps at the fortress, about 5 meters high. The fortress walls and corners have a steep and rough structure, suggesting defense structures. Rinkuškių piliakalnis was first discovered in 1969 by The Lithuanian Institute of History.
