Iron Age Settlement Found Under Bogutiškė Hillfort

The **Bogutiškė hillfort** is an oval-shaped hill located in the Švenčionys region of Lithuania. It is 58 x 40 meters at the base, with two mounds of around 10-12 meters high. These mounds are believed to have been the homes of people who lived there some 1000 years ago. In 1894, excavations were conducted at the site, revealing a cultural layer dating back to the Iron Age (1 BCE - 4 CE). A variety of artifacts were found, including pottery, grinding stones, and metal objects, which are now stored at the Museum of the History of Masovia.
