Ingemar Johansson, known as 'Ingo', is a statue created by sculptor Peter Linde, commissioned by the City of Gothenburg shortly after the death of Ingemar Johansson in 2009. The statue represents the winner of the world championship heavyweight boxing title from 1959 to 1960. The statue was completed in almost two years and was inaugurated on September 17, 2011, outside the Nya Ullevi arena in Gothenburg. Johansson defeated the highly ranked American Eddie Machen at the Nya Ullevi stadium in Gothenburg in 1959. The statue, made of bronze, stands on a base of granite and is 2.4 meters tall and weighs 400 kilos. Peter Linde won a design competition organized by the City of Gothenburg for the design of the statue.
