What John Ericsson Monument, Göteborg

John Ericsson was a renowned inventor, responsible for the propeller and the ironclad ship USS Monitor during the American Civil War. A statue in his honor, created by sculptor Ingel Fallstedt, was unveiled in Göteborg, Sweden on October 6, 1899. However, the statue's creation was marred by tragedy, as the sculptor, Ingel Fallstedt, took his own life shortly after completing the work.
