Stora Katrinelund: A Historic Oasis Amidst Urban Göteborg

Stora Katrinelund, hidden within Göteborg's Burgårdsparken, is a historical gem. Originally named Södra Burgården, it dates back to the 17th century. Higab has managed and preserved the estate since 1991, designating it a building heritage site in 1973. The estate comprises a main building, two wing buildings, former grain storage, a water reservoir, alleys, gardens, and an extensive park. Walking along Skånegatan, you'll find schools bordering Stora Katrinelund's park.

Wrought-iron gates on high stone pillars mark the entrance, leading to a gravel path flanked by trimmed poplars. The wing buildings on either side of the main building frame the courtyard, with staircases leading to the park. The western part houses a grain storage building elevated on pillars. The round water reservoir, timber-built, is situated to the east. The garden ends towards the east, merging with Mölndalsån. Nya Ullevi, Fattighusån, and Valhalla IP border the landeriet to the north, many original structures still standing within.
