Grön eld, a creation by Vicke Lindstrand, is a public glass artwork situated in front of Umeå Central Station. Commissioned by Sven Wallander, the head of HSB, it was unveiled in 1970. At nine meters, it was the tallest glass sculpture globally at the time. Consisting of three twisted glass pillars that grow thinner at the top, the sculpture is composed of 3000 nine millimeter-thin glass plates crafted by Emmaboda glasverk in Sweden. These plates are bonded together with epoxy glue to withstand the harsh climate.
