Heart of Trees sculpture in Umeå, Sweden

Heart of Trees is a sculpture by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa, which has been installed in different places worldwide since 2007. One such installation can be found in Öbackaparken, Umeå, near the Artistic Campus of Umeå University. The sculpture, owned by Balticgruppen, consists of nine bronze figures that are three meters tall. Each figure embraces a living and growing tree. The figures are covered with letters in relief that together form the names of some of Plensa's favorite composers.

A version with seven figures was installed in Yorkshire Sculpture Park, England, in 2011, and a similar version was shown at the Shanghai Biennale in China, also in 2012. Plans exist for thirty more works by Plensa to be permanently installed in Umeå’s Sculpture Park (first displayed in Umeå in 2008 as part of Gallery Andersson/Sandström's exhibition in Umedalen's Sculpture Park). In the same Umeå Sculpture Park, another sculpture by Plensa, called Nosotros, is also installed.
