Grensholm: A Medieval Chapel Hidden Amongst 18th-Century Buildings and a French

Grensholm, a castle in Vånga socken, Norrköpings kommun, Östergötland, dates back to the second half of the 18th century and was later rebuilt in the Carolinian style. The main building is surrounded by a French park with a reflecting pond. Several stone farmhouses, built by dals, were constructed during the 18th century. Hidden amongst these buildings is a medieval chapel that was built on the estate during the 16th century and was later converted into a farmhouse. The estate has well-preserved economic buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries, including a farm dairy. A remnant of the 1700s alms house was destroyed in a fire in 2004. Ruins of the medieval castle Åls stenhus are located on the castle hill.
