The 1950-uncovered Runic Inscription: England in Gothic Script

The runic stone Ög Fv1950;341, discovered near Linköping in 1950, stands as the first reliable example of the name 'England' in eastern Gothic rune inscriptions. Originally placed beside the Nykvarn stream bridge, the stone measures 395 cm tall, with a height of 298 cm above the ground and a maximum width of 143 cm. The runes are inscribed in a white color with thin, shallow lines. The single cross at the top of the stone is followed by an inscription, translated to English, which reads: 'Bjørn and Asiørn raised this stone after ÆfteIntre'.
