Revolutionary Journey: Soaring Through Time with the Saab Safir

The Saab Safir is a three or four seater light aircraft, constructed in the 1940s and 1950s by the Swedish company Saab AB in Linköping. Its designer, Anders J. Andersson, had previous experience at Bücker. The design of the Saab 91, a variant of the Safir with a revised four-seat cabin, first took to the skies in 1949. The Safir was primarily used as a trainer, but it also served as an aerodynamic testbed for the Saab 29 jet fighter and the Saab 32 Lansen fighter. One ex-Swedish aircraft was sold to Japan for high-lift device testing for the Shin Meiwa PS-1 flying boat.
