Fotheringhay Castle, in Northamptonshire, England, was once the site of two of the most significant moments in English history. Richard III, who later became England’s King, was born there in 1452. Mary, Queen of Scots was executed there in 1587. However, the castle is now a ruin, having been dismantled in the 1630s. The site is protected as a Scheduled Monument and is open to the public.
