A secret place of the Cold War

The manor at Farm Hall in Huntingdon, England played a significant role during the Cold War. From 1945 to 1946, it was secretly used by MI6 and SOE as a detention facility for ten German scientists who were part of Operation Epsilon. The program was conducted by the Allied Alsos Mission to interrogate the scientists and determine how close Nazi Germany was to building an atomic bomb. The physicists were monitored and only relevant technical or political information was recorded. The recordings were destroyed after transcription, but the transcripts were declassified and published in 1992. Today, Farm Hall stands in Cambridgeshire, serving as a reminder of the technological race that took place during the Cold War.
