The Resplendent Relic of Sant Francesc: Probing the Past in Sant Climent,

Nestled in Sant Climent de Llobregat, Spain, the Ermita de Sant Francesc was once a vibrant beacon of fervent worship, now, it echoes only an intriguing whisper of its former glory.

Tracing its roots to 1798, the Ermita de Sant Francesc served as a private chapel for Masia de Can Colomer de les Valls, devoted to Sant Francesc d’Assís. It is preserved in the Inventari del Patrimoni Arquitectònic de Catalunya. Despite the passage of time, hints of vibrant hues - red, brown, blue - can still be traced in the remnants of paint adorning its walls. The facade, echoing intricate brickwork and fluid lines, once showcased a small, rectangular door. Today, the silent remnants hold only two small, rectangular windows peering out from each lateral wall, while the roof stands tall, bearing the weight of time. A fragment of the Ermita de Sant Francesc’s inscription is missing, symbolizing a silent testimony to its forgotten past. A permit for a mass at the Ermita de Sant Francesc was issued on August 2nd, 1798.
