Barcelona's Medieval-style Castle: Casa Terradas

Casa Terradas, known as Casa de les Punxes, is a Barcelona building designed by modernist architect José Puig i Cadafalch in 1905. Commissioned by Bartomeu Terradas Brutau for his sisters Angela, Josefa, and Rosa, the building was designed to resemble old medieval castles, with six pointed towers and conical spikes on top, a nod to the Catalan Modernism style. The façade of Casa de les Punxes features a sculpture by Enric Monserdá depicting an angel, and the sculptural angel bears the inscription ‘This work was completed in MCMV’ (1905) in Gothic letters. Inside, the building showcases symbolic and decorative elements. Notably, an angel sculpture on the façade refers to Ángela Terradas, one of the home's owners.
