Monument to Josep Anselm Clavé - the defiant composer

The Monument to Josep Anselm Clavé stands defiantly on Passeig de Sant Joan in Barcelona's Camp d'en Grassot and Gràcia Nova neighbourhood, cataloged as a local cultural asset. Its creator, the architect Josep Vilaseca i Casanovas, began the construction in 1883 despite not knowing that his work would become an enduring testament to the unwavering resilience of the arts. The bronze statue is the work of the Barcelona-born sculptor Manuel Fuxà. It stands 5 meters high and Clavé is depicted standing with a baton in his right hand. In the bottom sections, four small pedestals serve as counterweights, with the words 'Clavé' written between two counterweights facing Diagonal Avenue.
