Barcelona's Hotel Ritz and its Refined Facade

The Hotel Palace, located at the Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes and Roger de Llúria in Barcelona's Eixample district, is a six-floor monumentalist building. It was founded in 1919 by César Ritz and was inspired by the Palace and Ritz hotels in Madrid, both designed by Eduard Ferrès. During the Spanish Civil War, the hotel was occupied by left-wing forces. In the 1970s, the hotel was acquired by Husa Hoteles and in 2011, it was sold for 80 million euros to Alí Haddad. The building is divided into three horizontal parts: the base, the central body, and the crowning part. The interior features common areas, vestibules, stairs, and attached dependencies. The decoration includes some of the great salons.
