16th-century name change: uncovering the history of can Castanyer, a

In the heart of Sant Cugat del Vallès lies can Castanyer, a building of historical significance, included in the Inventari del Patrimoni Arquitectònic de Catalunya and closely associated with the ermita de Santa Maria de Campanyà. Originated as mas Dalmau, it bears the name can Castanyer today, a change that happened in the 16th century. The main structure dates back to the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features a rectangular, two-storey structure with a gabled roof. The front facade is symmetrically arranged with three openings, all with arched tops. The exterior showcases larger stones from the Campanyà hill, used in the rear and corners of the facade. The front yard once housed an old well, while additional features for animal husbandry and storage remain.
