Antiguo Convento de San Andrés

The Antiguo Convento de San Andrés is a building steeped in history, located in the El Perchel neighborhood of Málaga, Andalucía, Spain. Originally founded by the Order of the Carmelites Descalzos in the 16th century, the convent has been through several transformations over the centuries, serving various functions such as a hospital and a quarter for troops, both own and enemy. The convent was declared a cultural asset of interest in 2001. After lying abandoned for a time, the convent was reclaimed by the Carmelite Order in 1943 and has since undergone renovation on two occasions, with the first phase completed in January 2018 and the second phase completed on April 20, 2022. The latest renovation has seen the restoration of the claustro, which will house the Jorge Guillén library with 1000 meters and a room for meetings. The mesón will host exhibitions about the biography of Torrijos.
