Ancient Remains Beneath Sågdammen, A Lake in Sweden

Sågdammen, part of Göta älv's main drainage basin, is a lake in Vårgårda commune, Västergötland. The Kvarnabäcken that runs through it has its source in Käringesjön, and flows from Käringesjön to Härskasjön, Mogesjön, Paradissjön, and ultimately to Sågdammen. Beneath Sågdammen’s waters lie the remains of a settlement from the Iron Age/Viking Age. Söder om Sågdammen lies Ribbingsberg estate, with histories dating to the early 17th century. Today, Sågdammen remains a serene spot for swimming and boating, but the allure of its past lies beneath the surface.
