Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, a landmark in Nottingham, England, is believed to be England's first pub despite its 17th-century construction. John Speed's map of 1610 hints at a structure existing before the current building. Hidden within the pub are caves, fueling rumors of a castle brewery once hidden there. By the 18th century, it was known as The Pilgrim. William Standford purchased the property in 1751, and it adopted the name 'Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem' in 1799.
