Ayllón's Palacio de Vellosillo: Discovering a stone-bound historic masterpiece

The Palacio de Vellosillo, a historic manor in Ayllón, is a post-Herrerian building. It boasts a nearly square floor plan, with stone used in the area between the two central balconies of the facade, as well as in the outlines of the openings and in the corners. Brick was used in some internal walls. The Spanish government bestowed the Bien de interés cultural status upon the Palacio de Vellosillo on March 1, 1974. The entrance opens to a hallway that connects to the courtyard. Four Tuscan columns in the corners support the wooden gallery, which can be accessed by a double-step staircase. The courtyard houses the rooms, with wooden beams and vaulted ceilings on the ground floor, and wooden structures on the upper floors. Today, the palace stands as a significant cultural landmark in Ayllón.
