Ancient stone mystery: Sviliškių piliakalnis

In a secluded valley, surrounded by the Avinuosto swamp and Rasmos stream, lies the ancient stone structure, Sviliškių piliakalnis. This enigmatic monument reaches a maximum height of 0.2 metres, is 5 metres wide at the front, 1 metre deep at the front and up to 1 metre deep at the back, 9 metres wide at the back. On the eastern side, there is a 4-metre wide terrace that is 2 metres below the top of the stone. The western side of the stone hints at its history with 4-metre wide and 0.2-metre deep grooves.

Beneath the stone, a 6-metre wide and 0.2-metre deep pit can be found. The construction of the stone ended 6 metres below the top. A natural 10-metre wide terrace can be found 6 metres below the top of the stone.

Sviliškių piliakalnis was built by people between the first century BC and the first century AD. It is registered until 2005-02-19 and is protected by the State Protection of Cultural Property.
