A forgotten monument: the lost ship of Skeppssättningen, Södra Ugglarp

Skeppssättningen vid Södra Ugglarp is by far the largest preserved stone setting in Skåne, dating from the Younger Iron Age. Measuring 39 meters in length and approximately 10 meters wide at its broadest point, the monument consists of 39 standing stones aligned east-west. The monument, which was likely restored in the middle of the 1800s, was originally known as 'Giättagraven' on a land survey map from 1767. Seven stones on the southern side of the monument were raised by local stonemason E. Johansson from Dalby in 1952.
