Ancient Ksar Chenini stands tall and imposing over the land of Tunisia. While it is often considered one of the most impressive ksars in the region, no definitive ranking can confirm this claim. This imposing fortress dates back to the 12th century and once protected a village. On the 10th of January 2020, the Tunisian government proposed that this historical site be considered for classification as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The number of ghorfas within Ksar Chenini is unknown due to its deteriorated state. Estimates by Herbert Popp and Abdelfettah Kassah suggest that at its height, the ksar had over 200 rooms spread across two floors. However, the mysteries of Old Chenini remain, waiting for the wind to reveal its secrets to those who dare listen.
