Metal-rich Capo Pecora, dominating the coast of Sardinia

Capo Pecora is a well-known place in Sardinia, located on the southwestern coast of the island. It is the southernmost point of the Costa Verde and the territory of the commune of Arbus. The promontory forms the eastern end of the Gulf of Buggerru. Capo Pecora is dominated by Punta Mumullonis, which rises to 499 meters above sea level. Punta Mumullonis is a complex of vulcanites, calcaries, dolomies, and arenies, which are some of the oldest in Europe. The promontory is rich in metal ores. The granitic promontory of Capo Pecora sticks out in a coast dominated by calcareous rock. The cliffs at Capo Pecora, battered by wind, form isolated coves of polished pebbles. One of the coves is called 'Spiaggia delle uove di dinosauro'. The main beach of Capo Pecora is made of golden sand with large grains.
