Villa Manfrin: Peeking into an Ex-Strategic Hub's Lavish Transformation

Built as a gilded palace, Villa Manfrin in Treviso, Italy got a military makeover twice. Let's take a gander.

Originally commissioned by Marchese Girolamo Manfrin to architect Giannantonio Selva between 1780 and 1783, the Villa Manfrin of Treviso was a grand mansion at first. From 1919 to 1923, it got a temporary new role as the Ministry, aiding in the Reconstruction of the Territories Liberated from the Enemy. Fast forward to 1948 – 1986, and it served as the Division Folgore Command's headquarters, the central part of the villa. A shift occurred in 2014, when it became the seat of the Division Unità Mobili of the Carabinieri. Today, the villa is shuttered from public view, but its pristinely kept garden, adorned with a serene pond and a plenitude of statues, is still open for a stroll.
