The Secret History of Kyrkstigen in Ed, Sweden

Kyrkstigen in Ed, Uppland, Sweden, is a notable path that extends westward from Eds kyrka. This ancient highway, also known as Kungsstigen or Runostigen, stretched from the former trading and transshipment area in Edsbacka to the vicinity north of Edsjön. Parts of this medieval path survive to this day, following a five-meter contour along Edsjöns shore. The Upplands runestone 112, often named Flyttblocket i Ed, is located on this route, approximately one kilometer south of Eds kyrka. This stone is a runestone inscribed on both sides of a flyttblock, a large stone. Johannes Bureus, a runologist, visited the runhällen at three separate occasions between 1594 and 1624.
