The windmill that survived two centuries

The Överby mill, located in Sollentuna communal area, near the border with Upplands Väsby communal area, is a windmill of the hättkvarn or holländare type, with a fixed foundation and a rotatable hat. The windmill is the only functional windmill in Stockholm county. Twice a year, at the annual mill days, grain is ground into flour. Built around 1850 and possibly having a predecessor from the 1700s, the mill is depicted on a map for the first time in 1810. The stones from the predecessor are displayed outside the mill.
