Tunbyholm Castle: A 19th-century facelift hiding a rural past

Tunbyholm Castle, found in Tomelilla Municipality, Sweden, underwent a significant transformation in the 19th century. The current two-story structure, characterized by its yellow facades, white pilasters, window surrounds, and the two free-standing wings with square floors, flat saddle roofs, and pediment-crowned central sections, is the result of a restoration in the 1830s. Originally, the manor house evolved from a rural farmhouse, which was the original construction. Although the facade gives the impression of a castle, the structure primarily stands as a historic manor house today, hinting at its humble beginnings.
