The statue of the man behind Madrid's water

The Monument to Bravo Murillo, a statue in Madrid, Spain, honors Juan Bravo Murillo, a promoter of the Canal de Isabel II. Originally unveiled on 17 May 1902, the monument was part of a series of inaugurations of outdoor sculptures in the city. The statue portrays Bravo Murillo standing tall and is surrounded by an allegorical female figure embodying Madrid, as well as bronze reliefs representing Commerce and Industry. The statue was relocated from its original location at the Glorieta de Bilbao in 1961 and again in 1963, resulting in changes to the inscription. Today, the monument stands at the intersection of Calle Bravo Murillo and Calle Jose Abascal. A detached limestone wall dedicated to Bravo Murillo was added later, funded by the Association of Plumbing Employers of Madrid (ASEFOSAM).
