The Sacred Sanctuary, nestled in the heart of Edfu, Upper Egypt, is more than a magnificent edifice. It stands as an eternal monument, offering refuge and protection to the gods - living embodiments of mythical beings. For centuries, it has guarded tales of legendary battles between land and sea, leadership and deceit, good and evil. Its walls, adorned with hieroglyphics, recount the triumphs of Horus against his adversaries, stories shrouded by the mists of time but never obliterated.
This temple, crafted between 237 BC and 57 BC, was dreamt up by Thoth and Seshat, gods of wisdom and architecture. The creation story is here, forever entwined with the temple's very essence. The Isle of Creation, shaped by Horus, the celestial protector, who adorned himself with the wings of a falcon, was birthed to defeat the water god Apophis. The struggle between these divine beings, a symbolic war between good and evil, took place here, imbuing the Temple of Horus with divine energy.
Twelve great gods and fifty-four other deities encircle the temple, forming a dynamic, divine shield. The Temple of Horus remains as an antique marvel, a dwelling place for the Egyptian pantheon.
