The Romanesque frescoes at Église Saint-Pierre de Montbazin

Église Saint-Pierre de Montbazin, located in Montbazin, Hérault, Occitanie, France, is a fortified Roman-style Catholic church. Dating back to at least the 12th century, this historic monument has undergone various changes throughout the years. The church is mentioned for the first time in 1181 and was initially the chapel of the Château de Montbazin. It is classified as a historic monument in 1963. The church's apse is adorned with Romanesque frescoes, depicting Christ Pantocrator in a mandorla, flanked by twelve apostles. Only six apostles on the left side of the fresco are well-preserved, while only one figure remains on the right side. A choir passage allowing entry into the château's perimeter still exists, and the church's abside has a simple cornice with modillions.
