Ericsberg Castle: Beata von Yxkull's Military Legacy Unveiled

Ericsberg Castle, situated in Katrineholm Municipality, Södermanland County, Sweden, was first bought by the Gyllenstierna family in 1508. The current building was completed in the 17th century by Erik Karlsson Gyllenstierna’s widow, Beata von Yxkull, who was not only a builder but also a military figure. The estate was later owned by various families, including the Hildebrand family in the 18th century and the Bonde family in 1808. Ericsberg’s library, founded by baron Carl Jedvard Bonde in 1843, is its most notable feature, containing 50,000 volumes. However, Beata von Yxkull's military legacy within the castle remains unexplored.
