Plantsville, nestled in the town of Southington, CT, was once an industrial powerhouse. It all began in 1812 when Eli Terry set up shop, crafting timepieces that sent ripples throughout the community. The population swelled to over 2,000 residents by 1915, making this a bustling setting. However, the industry's golden era started to wind down in the mid-20th century, leaving only echoes of the factories behind. Fascinatingly, many of the historical buildings, such as the Plantsville Congregational Church designed by Josiah Cleveland Cady in 1866, have found new life as commercial spaces. Modern offices and stores share the neighborhood with this grand example of Gothic Revival architecture, showing that old and new can play nicely together.
