Elsedo: A grand transformation from 18th-century manor to contemporary art

Situated on a hill in Liérganes, Cantabria, Spain, stands El Palacio de Elsedo. Erected in the 18th century for the first Count of Torre-Hermoza, Francisco de Hermoza y Revilla, the palace, despite its regal appearance, was often referred to as a 'cottage' by its successive owners, who resided elsewhere. After numerous ownership changes, the Santos Díez brothers transformed the manor's grand spaces into a contemporary art museum in the 20th century. Today, Elsedo showcases artworks from Spanish artists dating back to the 20th century, including Pablo Picasso, D. Vázquez Díaz, and Josep Maria Subirachs.
