Erected in 1897, this National Monument, originally known as the Schutztruppen-Denkmal, pays tribute to the fallen heroes of the war against the Witbooi. The memorial, standing tall at approximately 2 meters, showcases an iron obelisk, crowned with a Reichsadler, its sides etched with the names of the Schutztruppe's fallen champions. Encircled by a small fence, this majestic and dreamy structure echoes the sorrowful symphony of the Massacre of Hornkranz, a precious memory engraved not just in stone but in the heart of every Namibian.
